CWI established ARTYZAN Vocational Academy in 2005 to provide industry oriented high quality vocational education to youth from marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society. The training period varies from 3 months to a year. The Academy has a well-equipped centre at Chennai and a training facility with residential facilities in Pondicherry. The course curriculum and content are developed in close coordination with the Industry to meet their current and emerging needs. CWI employs only faculty with good industry experience and passion for training the youth. Some of the popular programs of the academy include apparel design and production technology, accessories design and manufacturing technology, graphic design technology, hotel management and catering technology etc. Apart from the chosen vocational skill training, all students are trained in basic computer application, business communication, small business management, and entrepreneur and personality development. Over the past 4 years, the academy has trained and secured 100% placement for more than 850 students.

At present training is offered in the following areas 1. Garment Technology, 2. Leather goods Technology, 3. Embroidery, 4. Graphic Design & DTP, 5. Foods and Beverage - Production & Service (Offered at Pondicherry Center), 6. Hand stitching, 7. Pattern making - Textile and Leather goods. Apart from these technical training all students are provided training in English, Computers, Sports, Yoga and other personality development activities. The students will learn the theory and practical at the institute for 10 months, and the last two months they will go for industrial training at the sponsors/collaborators place. Each workshop is managed with technical collaboration from one of the leading companies in that segment. For example the garment manufacturing training program is undertaken in technical collaboration with M/s.Vastrakala for Embroidery, M/s.PS Apparels for Garment Technology and Pattern making, M/s.GKK Exports for leather, M/s.Whitcomb & Shaftesbury for Handstitching, M/s.A.P.International for Graphic design & DTP, and M/s.Epok Enterprises for Food and Beverage. The students undertake frequent visits to the factories of the sponsor companies to gain exposure to real time environment. The residential batch is provided complete boarding and lodging at free of cost apart from the needed training aids. Placement. On successful completion of the program, the students will be given employment offers by the sponsors of the program. They can choose between being employed or starting their own units for which the academy offers links to financial institutions. We are proud to state that the first batch has successfully completed the program and all the students have been placed! |
